I have been with Rogers cable from ~ 2002 or so, then with their resellers
since
2014 or so (Vmedia, CarryTel, and now Koodo).
I don't recall having to mess with bridge mode when I had router/modem
combos.

No issues with NAT, and my router is accessible from the internet.

ifconfig on the router says:

wan Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 16:91:xx:xx:xx:xx
 inet addr:166.48.x.x Bcast:166.48.x.x Mask:255.255.255.224

So it is addressable.
