A couple of years ago I had the idea of upgrading my DSL line to Roger's cable internet.

I waited a year for Rogers to install the cable. There were a number of half-assed attempts that ended in failure. The last attempt they tried failed, but they also cut the line for my Bell telephone land line. Bell sent a technician to fix the land line the next day. After that, Rogers stopped responding to queries about "when will my internet cable be installed". Effectively they ghosted me.

And yeah, it was third party contractors all the way, no Rogers employees were involved in the debacle.

Previous to this (many years ago) I did have Rogers internet over cable, but one day they did a "service upgrade" of some sort and my internet service stopped working. Rogers tech support was of no help. After a week of passive aggressive non-assistance in fixing the problem, I cancelled the service. Then I got a phone call from a "sales retention" person, pleading with me to not cancel my service, and offering a discount. It was pathetic.

Rogers is the worst company I've ever dealt with. However, other service companies are scrambling to catch up: Bell service has enshittified (you can no longer call tech support), the small local company that used to service my furnace was purchased by a multinational, who proceeded to enshitify the customer service.
